PUMP FUEL: Fuel from the gas pump is power equipment's biggest enemy. Pump fuel contains ethanol, Ethanol has inherent properties that can cause corrosion of metal parts, including carburetors, degradation of plastic and rubber components, harder starting, and reduced engine life. Ethanol also absorbs water, causing even more problems. Most manufacturers suggest disposing of pump fuel after 2 to 3 weeks. We suggest if you are storing your equipment for longer than that go with non-ethanol fuel such as Moto-Mix or VP Small Engine Fuel(SEF). Moto-Mix is a pre-mixed 2 stroke(or Stihl 4 mix) fuel for engines requiring 50 to 1 fuel/oil mix. VP SEF is a regular non-ethanol fuel for 4-stroke engines. Seems expensive up front, but, it's a lot cheaper than having to replace a carb. or worse. These fuels have a 2-year shelf life once opened. Cheap insurance.
